Nothing gets the tears flowing like an emotional show-stopper. Here, we go back through the years to bring you our top 10 The Voice UK emotional moments from the blind auditions
The Voice UK is back on our screens, and this year Happiful’s incredible February cover star Meghan Trainor is taking to the red chair as the newest coach.
To get us ramped up for the latest series, we’re casting our minds back to remember the blind auditions that brought tears to our eyes, sent shivers down our spines, and left us wanting more.
1. Emmanuel Smith
OK, we’ll admit that almost any rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ is a guaranteed tearjerker – JHuds, we feel you! But in his blind audition, Emmanuel Smith really brought something special to the stage. From the gravelly highs, to the touching lows, he takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, and we’re here for the ride.
2. Ash Morgan
The song. The passion. The power. Ash Morgan really gave it his all in this belter of the classic ‘Never tear us apart’. We challenge you to sit through the chorus without getting full-body goosebumps. Sing it, Ash!
3. Sharon Murphy
Let Sharon Murphy’s distinctive tone wash over you as she works her way through ‘Forever Young’. Wait for the chorus to feel the emotion ramp up a notch or two. Be haunted by Sharon’s spine-tingling intent, and stunning, stripped-back performance. Wow.
4. Sally Barker
Now, this is a throwback worth revisiting. Sit back, relax, and listen as Sally’s soulful voice brings a whole new meaning to ‘Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’. Simple can truly be beautiful, and Sally’s transporting us to another time with this touching rendition.
5. Gevanni Hutton
There’s nothing quite like young talent for warming even the coldest heart. Gevanni’s angelic voice perfectly captures the emotion of ‘Everybody’s Free’, and make sure to watch till the end for a sweet reunion! We can't wait to see how far Gevanni goes.
6. Sarah Tucker
A song for anyone who’s ever felt helpless, Sarah Tucker really takes ‘In my Blood’ to new highs in her blind audition. Come for the beautiful vocals, stay for the outpour of emotion as the break hits.
7. Jordan Gray
In an original twist on ‘Just Like a Woman’, Jordan Gray sinks her soul into this performance which really sticks in the mind. Did the judges make a mistake by not turning around for her? You tell us. But for now, we’ve got Jordan playing on repeat.
8. Kevin Simm
Full house! And no wonder, Kevin Simm shook us with his impressive vocals in this powerful version of ‘Chandelier’. With so many goosebump-inducing moments to chose from, this cover is a real experience. The focus, the intent, the delivery. Kevin, you’ve got it all.
9. Mo Adeniran
Here’s a man giving it his everything. Did you feel it? Because we did. And it only gets better as Mo masterfully builds up the tension through this powerful version of ‘Iron Sky', finishing on a heart-wrenching high that’s sure to linger on.
10. Meghan Trainor’s dad
OK, so it’s not technically a blind audition. But how could we resist including the joyous moment when Meghan Trainor’s dad shows off his impressive piano skills in a sing-along to ‘Shake Rattle and Roll’? When it comes to the Trainor’s musical prowess, it’s like father like daughter. Play those keys, Daddy T!
