Stephen K Amos and Thanyia Moore are just some of the famous faces topping bill for an online live comedy night, in aid of Black Minds Matter
Hackney agency Don’t Panic has joined forces with London-based comedy club, Nice N’ Spiky to present an evening of live comedy. Proceeds raised from the virtual event will be donated directly to the not-for-profit organisation Black Minds Matter, whose mission is to connect Black communities with essential, relevant mental health care.
For one-night-only of exclusive hilarity, the immersive experience will take place on 23 July with a spectacular lineup featuring Stephen K Amos, Dane Baptiste, Thanyia Moore and Nathan Caton, regulars on the comedy scene.
Live from inside your living room, audience members are encouraged to keep their video cameras on, laugh, clap and get involved, as just like in traditional face-to-face comedy, you'll be able to see and hear both the comedians and the audience!
At a time when most of us can relate to feeling mentally exhausted, laughter really is the best medicine. Laughter flips a switch in our bodies, triggering the release of happy chemicals, oxytocin and endorphins, and with these, we can’t help but smile.
Tickets are selling quickly, so be sure to head over to eventbrite to secure your place as the show won’t be repeated or streamed. Attendees will be emailed a private Zoom link hours before the show starts at 9pm, so grab a drink, sit back and relax. Cheers to the giggles!
About Black Minds Matter
Launched just last month, Black Minds Matter is an initiative set up by Agnes Mwakatuma and Annie Nash, seeking to address the disparaging gap in mental health care for Black communities. Black Minds Matter is raising money to connect Black individuals and families with professional Black counsellors, relevant mental health services and resources, including 12 weeks of therapy.
The not-for-profit is calling to make therapy for Black communities more accessible and reduce the stigma, and has so far raised through generous donations via the Go Fund Me page, over £484,000.
To pledge you support, you can buy a ticket to the comedy show on 23 July, donate via their fundraising page, or head over to blackmindsmatter.co.uk for more information.
