Everyone’s favourite soon-to-be-married royal couple have asked for donations to seven charities to celebrate their upcoming wedding
Earlier today, Kensington Palace announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would prefer donations to be made to seven selected charities which ‘represent a range of issues that they are passionate about’, rather than receiving traditional wedding gifts from members of the public and guests alike.
Set to marry in just over a month on 19th May at St George's Chapel in Windsor, a spokesperson went on to say “Many of these are small charities, and the couple are pleased to be able to amplify and shine a light on their work. Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle are incredibly grateful for the goodwill shown to them since the announcement of their engagement and are keen that as many people as possible benefit from this generosity of spirit”.
The seven selected charities include: Chiva (Children’s HIV Association); Crisis (national charity for homeless people); Myna Mahila Foundation (sanitary pad organisation supporting and empowering women in India); Scotty’s Little Soldiers (military charity helping bereaved British Forces children); Street Games (changing disadvantaged communities through sports); Surfers Against Sewage (cleaning and protecting coastlines from plastic and waste); Wilderness Foundation UK (protecting wilderness in the UK).
Surprisingly, no mental health charities were listed amongst the seven selected organisations by the newest royal couple. Prince Harry, along with Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge Kate have all previously been involved in supporting mental health foundations.
