The businesswoman known best for her reality TV show and social media presence aims to raise $50,000 for the Child Mind Institute
Earlier this week, Kim Kardashian West launched her first Facebook fundraiser to help raise money in aid of children’s mental health charity, Child Mind Institute.
The nonprofit, dedicated to transforming the lives of children struggling with mental health and learning disorders, provides support and treatment for many of the estimated 17.1 million children experiencing (or who have experienced) ill mental health across the US. Additionally, they support the advancement of research to improve diagnosis and treatment, as well as campaigning to provide helpful, accurate information to families and communities about children’s mental health.
In her post on Facebook, Kim said:
“As a mother of three, I think nothing is more important than my children’s health. This includes their physical and mental health. Over 17 million kids in the US struggle with a mental health or learning disorder like anxiety, ADHD, dyslexia or depression, making it hard for them to learn and succeed.
“Yet with proper diagnosis and treatment, these children can thrive. As students return to the classroom this fall, I want to do what I can to make sure they have all they need to succeed in school and in life, now and in the future.”
She went on to urge fans to join her and support the Child Mind Institute by donating £5, $50 or $500. So far the page has raised $14,000 of the $50,000 goal in just two days.
