Pioneer, physicist, campaigner, Stephen Hawking was many things to many people, and he undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the world he cared for so deeply.
Stephen passed away at his home in Cambridge at the age of 76. He became synonymous with both physics and the condition he bravely battled, a rare form of motor neurone disease.
He was given only a few years to live after his diagnosis aged just 22.
Over the next 54 years, he defied medical experts and went on to become one of the world's leading scientists despite largely being unable to speak except through a voice synthesiser.
In December, he even joined a group of doctors who sought to bring legal action against Jeremy Hunt over the NHS privatisation.
Tributes have poured in from around the world.

Happiful is deeply saddened to hear of Stephen Hawking's death, and believe that his legacy and tireless campaigning will live on for generations to come.
