National treasure Stephen Fry has revealed he secretly underwent surgery to treat prostate cancer.
The 60-year-old made the announcement in a YouTube video published to his 13 million Twitter followers today after receiving a diagnosis at 'around Christmas time.'
Mr Fry, the president of mental health charity Mind, says his cancer diagnosis came following a routine GP visit for a flu jab and a general check-up.
He said: "My GP called me up the next day, and said he was worried about my PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels.
"These are things the prostate gives out, and mine were too high. My GP suggested an MRI scan, and I said okay to keep him and myself happy."
Following his scan, Mr Fry was sent to a specialist who took a biopsy and received his diagnosis which experts believe it 'didn't seem to have spread'.
His surgery was carried out in the first week of January, and he has been busy recovering.
At the Mind Media Awards, Mr Fry expressed the importance of seeking medical help for mental health conditions - similarly, applying to physical wellbeing, where there is undeniably a strong link between the two.
The Happiful team wishes Stephen Fry a speedy recovery, continuing his outstanding work in the field of mental health.
